CASA meets Congress
National CASA held its annual conference in Washington DC this year. On Tuesday June 10, 2008 over 700 conference attendees spent the day on Capitol Hill meeting with the senators and representatives from their respective states. Here are a few pictures of the Ky Delegation. One of the group pictures is taken with Senator Mitch McConnell in his office. The other group picture is in the tunnel that links all the buildings together on Capital Hill. In that picture we are holding life size cut outs of children that was used in “Forgetten Children”. In May for 5 days 850 of these cut outs were put out each day on the Washington Mall near the Washington Monument to represent the 850 kids that enter foster each day. This project received national media attention as well as an inquiry from the president as he was passing by. We left these cut outs around Capital Hill.
